Global Campus in Rogers Offers Classes for Certified Public Accountants

ROGERS, Ark. – Online registration is open for five continuing professional education courses for certified public accountants through the University of Arkansas Global Campus in Rogers.

Online registration is available at http://globalcampus.uark.edu/register. View course details at http://globalcampus.uark.edu/cpa. The cost is $79 per person per class or $69 per class for a person enrolling in two or more classes.

 The courses, times, dates and descriptions include:

  • Ethical Professionals, 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 4 Participants will discuss the importance of ethical standards within the accounting profession. Participants will explore ethical principles and rules of conduct associated with the accounting profession.
  • Appreciating Depreciation, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4J. Mark Lundy with the Rogers location of BKD LLP will offer an overview of issues and trends in the real estate cost-segregation market. Attendees will learn how cost segregation can help accelerate the tax depreciation of commercial real estate and how to tell if a business or entity can benefit from a cost-segregation study.
  • Code of Conduct, 8-10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2John Dye with Coffman and Company PC will discuss the importance of ethics among accounting professionals and those who use their services. The material will enrich knowledge of ethics for tax professionals and discuss the code of professional conduct.
  • Passing the Torch, 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 J. Mark Lundy with the Rogers location of BKD LLP will present “Ownership Succession – Passing the Torch.” The course is an overview of several options for ownership succession and explores the pros and cons of each option.
  • Ethical Solutions, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 – Participants will gain summary knowledge of standards of professional conduct and business practices with which the financial reporting field must comply. Discussion will focus on justice, fairness and proper procedure. The course will give each participant an accurate portrayal of the ethical issues facing today’s workplace and will provide each participant with the appropriate and ethical course of action.
