FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Darinda Sharp has been named the new director of communications for the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas.

Sharp’s previous work experience includes communications roles within state government and political organizations. She has also worked on political campaigns at the local, state and national level in five states.

“As the heart and soul of the university, our faculty and students are constantly breaking new ground,” Fulbright College Dean Robin Roberts said. “Darinda’s background in communications and public service will be a valuable addition to the work we’re doing in Fulbright College.”

Fulbright College is the largest and most diverse academic unit on campus with 19 departments, 23 academic programs and 11 research centers. The college provides the core curriculum for all students attending the university and is named for J. William Fulbright, a former president of the university and longtime U.S. senator.

“We’re pleased to have Darinda as part of our team,” said Dina Wood, the director of development and external relations for Fulbright College. “Her diverse background coupled with her familiarity with Fayetteville, Fulbright College and the university as a whole, make her an ideal fit for this job.”

Sharp is a Fayetteville native and earned a bachelor of arts in journalism and political science and a master of arts in political science from Fulbright College. She also earned a master of science in human development and family science from the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences.
