Bumpers College Students Collect Items for Area Food Banks

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas students in the Hospitality Club and Student Dietetic Association delivered 1,500 pounds of canned food and personal items for Northwest Arkansas food banks Monday, Nov. 21.
Beginning the last week of October, students in Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences were encouraged to bring non-perishable items to their classes. Hospitality and dietetics students sorted the donated items and delivered them to the Full Circle Campus Food Bank at the University of Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, and Co-Op Emergency Outreach.
Hospitality and restaurant management and dietetics are concentrations within the food, human nutrition and hospitality major in the School of Human Environmental Sciences in Bumpers College at the University of Arkansas.
Instructor Allen Powell and assistant professor Kelly Way are advisers to the Hospitality Club. Instructor Shannon Carpenter is adviser to the Student Dietetic Association.
