Application Deadline Nears for Development Grants for Online Courses Through the Global Campus

Monday, Jan. 16, is the next deadline for applications for grants to support the development of online courses offered through the Global Campus (School of Continuing Education and Academic Outreach).

Academic colleges and schools can access the application form and guidelines at http://globalcampus.uark.edu/Faculty_Staff/dedg.html.

The Distance Education Development Grants initiative provides ongoing financial support to University of Arkansas academic units to expand distance education offerings, with the goal of increasing university enrollment of students who are location-bound or need flexible learning time and place options to continue or complete their education.

Academic units can apply for up to $3,000 per course ($1,000 per credit hour) for the development of new courses to be administered through the Global Campus. Future deadlines for grant applications are set for mid-August and January of each year, depending on the semester and year the new course will be offered.

Information about online course development support – with or without grant funding – is available on the “Faculty & Staff” tab of the Global Campus website or at http://globalcampus.uark.edu/Faculty_Staff/index.html.

Courses proposed for funded development must be part of degree programs or credit certificate/licensure programs, or serve a specific purpose, such as a core curriculum or professional development.

Faculty members can send application packages to online@uark.edu or to Global Campus, Attention: Global Campus Online, 2 East Center Street, Fayetteville, AR 72704.

The Global Campus partners with other university units, businesses and organizations to offer innovative learning solutions for people seeking to maintain professional certification, boost their skills, or obtain undergraduate or graduate degrees online or off-campus. The school also offers media services, conference services and facilities, and technology and pedagogy support. For more information about the Global Campus, visit http://globalcampus.uark.edu/.
