FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Susan Slinkard of Prairie Grove has been appointed the investment manager in the treasurer’s office of the University of Arkansas. She replaces Allen Lacey, who is retiring after 31 years of service to the university. The Division of Finance and Administration will host a welcome reception for Slinkard from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Room 410 of the Administration Building.

“We’re grateful to have someone of Susan’s caliber working in this position,” said Jean Shook, associate vice chancellor of finance and administration. “Finding the right person after the long and dedicated service of Allen Lacey was not an easy task, but we’re very lucky to have Susan join our team.”

Slinkard, an alumna of the university, started her new duties Nov. 14. She has a strong background in financial analysis and banking, having worked as a credit analyst for the Bank of Fayetteville and then as assistant vice president and commercial relationship manager for Metropolitan National Bank. BancorpSouth Bank then recruited her as an assistant vice president, where she helped the bank expand its market presence and build its brand awareness in the Northwest Arkansas region.

Slinkard earned two degrees from the university, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and then following up with a Master of Business Administration, both from the Sam M. Walton College of Business.

She has served as a council member for United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Arkansas, on the advisory board of the Montessori School, as a treasurer for the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas and as a committee member for the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce.
