Faculty Winter Teaching Symposium, Jan. 12, 2012

Please join the Teaching and Faculty Support Center for the 2012 Winter Teaching Symposium! The symposium will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, in the Arkansas Union Verizon Ballroom.  There will be a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. The program will begin at 8:20 a.m. with welcoming remarks from Chancellor David Gearhart.

The plenary session, "The Tsunami Facing Higher Education," will feature President Donald R. Bobbit of the University of Arkansas System.

Breakout session topics and speakers include "Using Clickers in the Classroom," with Richard Cassady and Ellen Odell; "Study Abroad," with Ed Pohl and Bryan Hill; "Teaching Large Classes," with Tim Kral; "Taking Your Class’ Pulse," with David Gay; "How to Use Student Assessment of Teaching," with Tom Jensen and Cheryl Murphy; "Mentoring Teaching Assistants," with Molly Rapert, and "One Book – One Community," with Shauna Morimoto.

A buffet lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with closing remarks from Provost Sharon Gaber.
