FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mark Power has been named the assistant vice chancellor for development at the University of Arkansas after 11 years with the institution’s Division of University Advancement.

“Mark has been assuming increased universitywide responsibilities within the development office, including direct supervision of the institution’s front-line fundraising staff and in-depth planning for the next comprehensive fundraising campaign,” said Bruce Pontious, associate vice chancellor for development. “Without question, Mark is one of the finest, most respected colleagues with whom I have had the privilege to work, and this promotion reflects the impact he has had throughout his tenure with the University of Arkansas.”

“I am fortunate to work with an outstanding team of development professionals who help make my job a rewarding and enjoyable one,” said Power. “My growing role in the office of development is a testament to the expanding achievements of our campus and the unyielding generosity of our benefactors. It is because of them that we all love coming to work each day, and I look forward to what the future holds for this university.”

Power joined the University of Arkansas in 2001 as the director of development in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, and was a key part of the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century, which raised more than $1 billion for the university. He was promoted to executive director of development in 2007, and in 2009, became the executive director for development and principal gifts. Since then, he has helped to lead the development staff to outstanding fundraising totals each of the last four years, and the department surpassed its 2011 fiscal year goal by more than 20 percent. In 2009, Arkansas Business named Power to its “40 Under 40” list of rising young professionals in the state, and just last month, he was recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Northwest Arkansas Chapter as the area’s most outstanding fundraising executive.

He has served as a board and committee member of the Northwest Arkansas AFP Chapter, as a board member of the Fayetteville Creative School, a Watchdog Dad at Butterfield Trail Elementary and is a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. He is also a member of the Northside Fayetteville Rotary Club.
