Appointment of Dean Carolyn Allen Renewed for Five More Years

Provost Sharon Gaber completed a five-year review of Carolyn Allen, dean of University
Libraries, in fall 2011. Based upon the feedback from the nearly 100 faculty, staff and students who offered comments on both the library and Allen, coupled with Allen’s vision for the next five-year period, Gaber has reappointed her for five more years.

Gaber stated, “I am pleased that Dean Allen has agreed to stay on for five more years. We are committed to continue the vision of the University Libraries to be an even more vibrant and diverse intellectual center of campus.”

Allen was initially appointed dean of University Libraries in 2000. Prior to joining the University of Arkansas she served as deputy director of University Libraries at the University of Florida, and associate university librarian for administrative services at the University of Southern California.
