Engineering Professor Named ASHRAE Fellow

Darin Nutter, associate professor of mechanical engineering, has been named a fellow by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning, or ASHRAE. Nutter’s contributions to the field of heating, refrigerating and air conditioning include research for the industry, teaching, and providing career support for students interested in this field.
Nutter’s research focuses on energy systems and efficiency. He conducts experimental and numerical research to investigate the fundamental heat transfer and thermodynamic interactions of buildings and in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
Nutter is also co-adviser of the student chapter of ASHRAE at the University of Arkansas and he has served on numerous national-level technical committees, including chair of TC 8.11 on unitary air conditioners and heat pumps.
