Artist George Dombek to Discuss Paintings in March 26 Lecture

George Dombek will present a lecture titled “Be Here Now, Red, and Other Paintings” at 5:30 p.m. March 26 in Hembree Auditorium, Room 107E in the Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences Building at the University of Arkansas.

Dombek received a Bachelor of Architecture and a master of fine arts in painting at the University of Arkansas and has taught architecture and art at universities in Arkansas, Ohio, Florida, Saudi Arabia and Italy.

Over a 40-year period, Dombek has generated an impressive catalog of work. His work is included in numerous collections, including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville. It has been exhibited in many shows, including those at the Arkansas Arts Center, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Oakland Museum.

His work has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Arkansas Arts Council, the Florida Arts Council, the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation, and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. He has a studio in Goshen.

This is the Martha Dellinger Memorial Lecture, sponsored by Jim and Sharon Parker, in the 2011-12 Fay Jones School of Architecture lecture series.

The lecture is open to the public. Admission is free, with limited seating.
