Exhibit by Award-Winning Painter to Open April 5 at University of Arkansas Global Campus

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Blind Justice is coming to the University of Arkansas Global Campus Thursday, April 5, as one of the 19 paintings and seven giclées (smaller reproductions) on exhibit by local, award-winning artist and teacher Tim Tyler.

Tyler’s Blind Justice oil painting stands 9.5 feet tall and 8.5 feet wide and will be on display with his other work at the exhibit opening from 5 to 8 p.m. April 5. The free exhibit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through April 19, excluding University of Arkansas holidays, at 2 E. Center St., on the downtown Fayetteville square. Tyler’s paintings are inspired by the elegance and skill of the old masters, according to his website at http://tctyler.com. The exhibit will open in conjunction with First Thursday, a monthly community art event offered from April to November on the Fayetteville square.

Tyler works in his studio on a hilltop horse farm near Fayetteville. Northern light shines into the 500-square-foot space surrounded by maples, oaks and pines. He is now writing a book, working on a new instructional DVD, and preparing for three one-man shows of his work.

Tyler’s paintings have been shown in more than 40 galleries in 34 states, and the Oklahoma State Capitol has commissioned seven pieces of his work. He won five awards in 2005 at Salon International, Oil Painters of America national exhibits and Art Renewal Center Salon.

The Oil Painters of America bestowed upon him signature membership in 1993, and he exhibited his work at seven consecutive shows of that national organization, which is dedicated to preserving and promoting excellence in representational art.

Tyler shares his techniques with students through instructional DVDs and at live workshops offered across the nation and in Europe.

"This exhibit will be unique for me and rare in its scope,” Tyler said. “It will debut the largest and most complex oil I've ever done: Blind Justice. Several original works sold directly to clients and brand new works which have never been seen in public will be on display. Lastly, I have selected a handful of my personal favorites to feature in giclées.”

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Arkansas – a peer-led community that provides engaging learning opportunities for people age 50 years and older – invited Tyler to exhibit his work at the Global Campus.

“The quality of art that will be displayed with the Tim Tyler exhibit is something that we have waited a long time in securing for the gallery,” said Kathleen Dorn, Osher institute manager. “With this exhibit our gallery will be a first stop when people are visiting the downtown square in Fayetteville. We are very fortunate to have a nationally renowned artist such as Tim Tyler exhibiting in the gallery at the Global Campus.”

Osher institute members will have a private showing at 4 p.m. April 5. They can also enroll in an art class taught by Tyler on April 24 and register for a trip to Oklahoma City to view Tyler’s work displayed at the Oklahoma State Capitol and the Woolaroc Art Museum near Bartlesville, Okla., on April 26 and 27.
