Danilo Tchoupe is April’s Student Leader of the Month from Ngaoudere Cameroon, Africa. He is majoring in horticulture and landscape architecture. Danilo is actively involved in African Students Organization, International Student Organization, Horticulture Club, International Culture Team, Personal Development Institute, and church activities.

He became involved in these various clubs and organizations to meet new people, socialize and develop leadership skills. He stated that getting involved allows him to learn but also to share with others. He believes that a leader is that one person who is willing to give of their time, talents, and skills to get the work done, able to go the extra mile when needed.

His advice to other leaders is that leaders may not be perfect but they should step up and do whatever is necessary to achieve the goals they set. Also don’t forget to use other people’s strengths and talents to get the job done.

Danilo’s mentor is his mom. She taught him how to stay focused, commit to his goals, and give up what wasn’t necessary to get the job done. He says that every day in this Razorback community is a memorable moment. His favorite quote is “If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything” – Malcom X.

The Student Leader of the Month award recognizes a University of Arkansas undergraduate student for their excellence in leadership through campus involvement leadership activities or through volunteer and community service programs.
