Bowles Serving on National, State Levels

Freddie Bowles, University of Arkansas assistant professor of foreign language education, was recently elected to the board of directors of both the Association of Teacher Educators and its state affiliate, the Arkansas Association of Teacher Educators, for terms that run from 2013 through 2016.
With both the national and state organizations, Bowles will help formulate policy for the association and approve presidential recommendations for ad hoc committees and commission appointments and dissolutions. She will also serve as the ad interim council for the Delegate Assembly between meetings.
Bowles will attend four board meetings a year at the national level and two at the state level. Members of the Association of Teacher Educators represent more than 650 colleges and universities, 500 major school systems and the majority of state departments of education. It was founded in 1920 to improve teacher education for both school and campus-based teacher educators.
"Arkansas is very active at the national level having had one president from here and the president-elect for 2014," Bowles said.
