Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center Enrollment Open Now

The University of Arkansas’s Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center is currently enrolling children for its opening on Aug.13. The program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and accepts children from the ages of eight weeks to five years. The program currently has openings for children in most age groups.

The family-centered program focuses on providing individualized curriculum for each child’s stage in life, offering smaller group sizes and highly educated, experienced and committed teachers. The program provides consistency in the crucial first three years of a child’s development, where caring relationships are vitally important. Older children experience. the balance of support and independence needed as they develop life-long social and learning skills.

“We provide choices for children and plan activities for each child to be successful as well as challenged,” said academic director Vernoice Baldwin.

In addition to the academic program, the newly constructed center’s physical space is designed to promote educational opportunities for the children. The new building features well-lit classrooms, indoor and outdoor play areas, front porches for each classroom, and garden areas. The building also incorporates numerous energy conservation technologies, including a geothermal heating-and-cooling system and extensive use of natural and LED light.
