New Co-Director of Office for Studies on Aging Announced

Michelle Gray, an assistant professor in exercise science, has been named the new co-director for the Office for the Studies on Aging. Gray has been working with older adults in several capacities for over a decade. Most recently, she was awarded a grant through the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology for a three-year project to determine how high-velocity resistance training benefits age-related losses in muscle and bone mass. Since coming to the U of A in 2010, Gray has co-authored over 20 manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters on the benefits of exercise for older adults.

The Office for Studies on Aging is an interdisciplinary unit that promotes research, community outreach, and advocacy for older adults. It was founded by  Ro Di Brezzo and Barbara Shadden and has been in existence since 1999.  Gray will be working with co-director Shadden, emeritus professor of communication disorders, and several other faculty members from across campus to maintain the mission and goals of the office.
