Reap Named President of Arkansas Alumni Association Board of Directors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – John C. Reap, B.S.B.A.’70 of Dallas brings 40 years of business expertise to the Arkansas Alumni Association as the incoming president of the board of directors.

Reap, an A+ life member of the alumni association and Little Rock native, has served on the national alumni board since 2005. He is retired as president and chief executive officer of Town North Bank, N.A. in Dallas. He has been a member of the Dallas chapter Arkansas Alumni Association board since 2004, serving two terms as president from 2010-2012. Reap is a graduate of the Sam M. Walton College of Business and gives back to his college as a member of the Dean’s Executive Advisory Board. He received the college’s Outstanding Alumni Service Award in 2008.

“Nothing inspires me more and increases my pride more in my university than hearing the success stories mounting up which come from campus; it seems like the ‘bar is being raised’ most everywhere,” Reap said.

Reap holds a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and a degree from the University of Virginia Graduate School of Retail Bank Management. His extensive banking background began at Republic Bank Dallas. He joined Town North Bank in 1976 and became its president and chief executive officer in 1994, remaining in those positions until his retirement in 2009.

Reap served on the nominating and selection committees for the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame under the auspices of Walton College, most recently as chairman of the selection committee. He also served on the North Texas Region Committee for the University of Arkansas Campaign for the Twenty-First Century. His community involvement includes serving on the board of the American Heart Association’s Texas Affiliate Inc. (chairman 1992-93), the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association Board of Directors, MasterCard International U.S. Business Committee, the Senior Adult Services Board of Directors and the Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD Educational Foundation. He was named the MetroCrest (Northwest Dallas County) Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2008.
