Israeli Ambassador to Speak on the 'New Middle East'
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The King Fahd Center for Middle East Studies invites you to join them for a visit and talk by the Honorable Meir Shlomo, ambassador and consul general of Israel to the United States. Shlomo’s presentation, “Road Maps and Road Signs: Navigating the New Middle East,” is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, in room 216 of the J.B. Hunt Building.
“Meir is a brilliant scholar and diplomat,” said Tom Paradise, professor of geoscience and Middle East studies in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. “He’s also friendly and unassuming with his vast knowledge of diplomacy and politics. We’re thrilled that he is visiting the University of Arkansas, and I look forward to his talk on September 20.”
Shlomo has more than 29 years of experience in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and speaks Hebrew, English and Spanish. He assumed the role of consul general of Israel to the Southwest in 2010. The office oversees Israel’s relations in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas and is based out of Houston.
