Students Encouraged to Enter 'Master the Mainframe' Contest

The department of information systems at the Sam M. Walton College of Business is encouraging students to enter a “Master the Mainframe” contest sponsored by IBM.

David Douglas, university professor in the Walton College information systems department, said no mainframe experience is needed to enter the contest, which runs from Oct. 1 through Dec. 28.

It is the eighth annual mainframe contest sponsored by IBM and is open to students across the United States and Canada, excluding Quebec.

To compete, students must have an educator at their institution enrolled in the IBM Academic Initiative. Douglas said he is enrolled and University of Arkansas students may use him as their faculty member.

More information about the contest is available at http://ibm.com/university/contest.
