Major Changes to Email on Oct. 1

On Oct. 1, Information Technology Services will permanently retire the email server mail.uark.edu. Users will be unable to access UA Mail or XpressMail, and all email applications for desktop and mobile, as well as email forwards, will fail when attempting to connect to mail.uark.edu. Email for all faculty and staff not yet on Exchange will be automatically migrated on Oct. 1.

Secondary and Sponsored Accounts
Secondary and sponsored accounts using UA Mail (uamail.uark.edu) or XpressMail (mail.uark.edu) must be migrated to Exchange before Oct. 1, or all email sent to those accounts will bounce. Migrate accounts using the Exchange Mailbox Request at http://exchangeinfo.uark.edu/request.

Verify Settings
All users who have migrated to Exchange should verify incoming and outgoing mail settings for mobile or desktop email applications using the information provided at http://techarticles.uark.edu/email/email_generic_settings under the Faculty/Staff (Exchange) heading.

Get Started with Exchange
Learn more about Exchange at http://exchangeinfo.uark.edu. Email applications supported by IT Services for connecting to Exchange include Outlook 2010, Outlook 2011 (Mac), OS X Mail, and Windows Mail. IT Services also supports Exchange on some mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android, and Windows Phone.

Technical Staff
Technical staff who manage servers or applications that send email using mailhost.uark.edu or mail.uark.edu should contact Walter Green at walterg@uark.edu.

Migrate Early
