Spoken Word Poetry Performer Sonya Renee to Perform

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University Programs will host poetry slam champion Sonya Renee on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in RZ’s in the University of Arkansas Union. After Renee’s performance students will have the opportunity to participate in the slam poetry competition. Students wishing to participate must have two original poems ready to perform.

This event is free to current University of Arkansas Fayetteville students through the Student Activities Fee, and students must show university ID for entrance. Admission for general public is free and contingent upon seating availability. Sonya Renee is an award winning poet, activist, and transformational leader. Renee believes in the life-shifting power of art. She is an international and national poetry slam champion who has shared her work across the world including the U.S., New Zealand, Australia, England, Scotland, Sweden, Canada, and the Netherland. She often performs in prisons, treatment facilities, homeless shelters, universities, festivals, and elementary schools.
