Educational Psychology Course Improves Understanding of Students

A new graduate course in educational psychology focuses on student motivation and strategy use for successful learning.

Karee Dunn, assistant professor of educational statistics and research methods, will teach the course, EDFD 5773: Advanced Topics in Educational Psychology, in the spring.

The course will be offered as a hybrid of both online and on-campus sessions. The on-campus meetings will be held in a forum-like fashion because the class size will be small.

“A better understanding of what motivates students to learn and of how students learn can help you better facilitate learning and training,” Dunn said.

The course is required for completion of the educational psychology graduate certificate. For more information, visit the educational statistics and research methods website.

“This course would benefit any graduate student who does or will work with learners of any age, whether it be in traditional educational settings or professional training,” Dunn said. “For example, operations management, business and education majors could benefit from this program.”
