“Winter in the Park” by Claire is one piece of art to be displayed Oct. 25 in the Arkansas Union as part of a community resource fair and art exhibit at the University of Arkansas. The art was created by clients of Life Styles, a community organization that serves people with disabilities.

Art by clients of Life Styles will be displayed in the International Connections Lounge of the Arkansas Union at the University of Arkansas during a daylong disability community resource fair Thursday, Oct. 25.

The event is sponsored by the Center for Educational Access at the University of Arkansas and Sources for Community Independent Living Services in Fayetteville. It is part of activities planned during Disability Awareness Month in October. The fair and art exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The community resource fair is designed for students, faculty, staff and the public. It will feature informational booths promoting community resources and information dedicated to inclusion and community participation. Disability service providers and agencies will be on hand to assist people with disabilities, their family members and the public. Information about local volunteer opportunities will also be available.

Life Styles Inc. is a nonprofit organization created in 1976 that serves people with disabilities in Benton and Washington counties. It helps people with disabilities achieve the skills and confidence they need to live in the community as independently as possible. The Art of Life Styles series, sponsored by Romance Diamond Co. in Fayetteville, is a part of the College for Living program.

Life Styles hosts monthly exhibits that feature work done solely by Life Styles clients, showcased in a variety of locations throughout Northwest Arkansas. If a piece sells at an exhibit, 50 percent goes to the client and 50 percent goes to the Life Styles College for Living Art Program to continue providing instruction and supplies.
