Slam Poet Derrick Brown Performs at Au Bon Pain

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University Programs will host slam poet Derrick Brown Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. in Au Bon Pain in the Union at the University of Arkansas. University of Arkansas at Fayetteville students will have the opportunity to enter an open mic and slam poetry competition before the performance.

This event is free to current University of Arkansas students through the Student Activities Fee, and students must show university ID for entrance. Admission for general public is free and contingent upon seating availability. Derrick Brown is a slam poet performer and founder of Write Bloody Publishing. From Long Beach, CA and Nashville, TN, he is dedicated to bringing American poetry and prose into rock and roll status. He has been applauded for his copy writing work and his romantic and comedic screenplays. Brown was the director for the children's television show, KIDMO. He has consistently been the opening act for Indie rock act, Cold War Kids, and has been booked with The White Stripes and performed with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. To date, Brown has performed at more than 1300 venues and universities internationally including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, La Sorbonne in Paris and The Nuyorican Poets Café in NYC.
