Spend the Summer Researching in Europe in a Paid Position

The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) offers paid positions working in German doctoral laboratories for undergraduates in biology, chemistry, engineering, earth sciences (geology), and physics who will have at least two years of coursework completed by the summer of 2013.

Paid positions range from two to three months, and the working language of the laboratories is English (some German is useful for daily living but is not required). Students can search a database and apply to research projects that match their interests and expertise; the database opens on Dec. 6.

With prior approval of German faculty, students with at least four semesters of German can also earn up to 3 hours of credit through this research experience. This program is highly competitive, and applications are generally due in Germany in January, so students are encouraged to work on applications in the fall semester.
