Help Wanted: Join the Team Making the U of A More Sustainable

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Office of Sustainability has openings for as many as 9 paid interns during the spring semester. The positions pay $10 an hour for a 15-20 hour work week. Candidates must be enrolled at the U of A. Students with a sustainability minor are encouraged to apply, but students from all academic backgrounds are welcome.

The office is looking for as many as six general interns, a Greek Life intern, a photojournalist intern and a broadcast journalism intern.

The general interns will help implement the University of Arkansas sustainability goals, working to make the campus a living laboratory for sustainable practices. Students will also assist in implementing sustainability themed campaigns sponsored by the Office for Sustainability. More information is available at http://wp.me/p25bJY-lL.

The Greek Life intern will have similar responsibilities, but with a focus on getting campus sororities and fraternities more involved in sustainable projects and practices. The photojournalist intern will help document the U of A sustainability goals, events, and programs and help spotlight sustainability research at the university.  The broadcast journalism intern will assist in the production of the Sustainability Radio Show, which includes audio mixing, podcast production, and managing a WordPress account. This intern will work to spotlight sustainability research at the university, and help implement sustainability themed campaigns sponsored by the Office for Sustainability. All interns  will learn website and program management; work in cross-cultural and/or multicultural settings; develop a deep understanding of sustainability at the University of Arkansas; exercise leadership and group participation skills; thrive in a fast-paced and diverse office setting; and engage the campus population to expand the integration of sustainability throughout the University of Arkansas. Photojournalism and broadcast journalism interns will also be able to enhance their resumes.

The deadline for applications is Dec. 1.
