Half-Day Class Prepares Professionals for Human Resource Certification Institute Exams

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Global Campus will offer a condensed preparation class from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, for people preparing for the professional in human resources (PHR) or senior professional in human resources (SPHR) certification exams.

Participants can attend the half-day session in a classroom at the Global Campus, 2 E. Center St., on the downtown Fayetteville square, or simultaneously online from anywhere. The class provides a comprehensive review of the 12-session 2012 Society for Human Resource Management Learning System Course.

The cost is $129, and online registration is available at http://globalcampus.uark.edu/register. The class fee does not cover exam registration. Visit the Human Resource Certification Institute website at http://www.hrci.org for exam costs and application dates.

“This half-day session is intended for people who have attended SHRM preparation sessions in the past and want to refresh their knowledge before sitting for the exam,” said Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs at the Global Campus. “It will also benefit those who have studied on their own by providing them with a condensed, structured learning environment to help them hone their knowledge.”

Patti Barnes, a senior professional in human resources, will teach the half-day session. She is an industry expert who has taught sessions in the learning system course for the Global Campus since 2007. Barnes is active in the Northwest Arkansas Human Resources Association and currently serves as the certification chair and as a contributing member of the diversity committee.

The Global Campus offers the full, 12-session exam preparation course twice per year. Contact Tavano at jtavano@uark.edu for more information about this and other professional development classes.

The Global Campus collaborates with academic colleges and schools, businesses and organizations to provide development classes for business professionals.
