Ginney Wright, a University of Arkansas doctoral student in social studies education, presented her work recently at the National Council for the Social Studies annual conference in Seattle.

The conference regularly draws thousands of practicing teachers and teacher-educators from around the country. Wright’s poster session was titled “Making ‘Sense’ of the Holocaust through Historical Inquiry.” It demonstrated how students can better understand the people and atrocities of the Holocaust through historical inquiry that emphasizes the human element of both victim and perpetrator.

Jason Endacott, assistant professor of secondary social studied education, said being accepted for this conference is quite an accomplishment for Wright. The conference organizers receive thousands of proposals each year and fewer than 50 percent are accepted.
