Classes Offered to Help Professionals Align Business Procedures with New Health Care Guidelines

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Registration is open for a two-class professional development series in 2013 to help businesses and organizations maneuver through the phased implementation of changes stipulated in the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, popularly referred to as Obamacare.

Business professionals will learn how to implement provisions of the health care law, identify the effect of the new rules on their organizations, and ensure their organizations are correctly structured, both legally and administratively, to comply with the new guidelines and to learn execution strategies.

 “Books on this topic are selling for hundreds of dollars,” said Judith Tavano, the director of professional development programs at the Global Campus. “These classes are a great value for our clients.”

The first class “Maneuvering through PPACA Mandates: New Rules for Open Enrollment” provides an overview of health care mandates to be phased in through 2018. The class is set for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the Global Campus facility in Rogers, Suite 402, 3300 Market St. Participants will receive the tools necessary to align their enrollment procedures with the strategic goals of their organizations, while complying with the new guidelines set forth in the health care act.

Participants can earn three general recertification hours for professionals in human resources, senior professionals in human resources, and global professionals in human resources through the Human Resource Certification Institute.

The second class “Maneuvering through PPACA Mandates: Thinking Strategically About Benefits” will help business and organization leaders learn to execute strategic plans to comply with the new health care regulations. The class is set for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the Global Campus facility in Rogers.

Participants can earn three recertification hours for professionals in human resources, senior professionals in human resources, and global professionals in human resources, pending approval from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

The cost of each class is $59, and online registration is available at http://globalcampus.uark.edu/register. The Global Campus supports professional development and training classes as a part of its mission.

The instructor for both classes will be Cammie Scott, president and owner of CK Harp and Associates, a full-service, multi-line insurance agency and interdisciplinary business services firm that was established in 1996. Scott served as the president of the Northwest Arkansas Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors from 2002-2003, and as president of the Arkansas State Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors from 2005-2006.

Scott’s credentials include life underwriter training council fellow, registered employee benefits consultant, registered health underwriter, corporate for long-term care certification, senior professional in human resources, and chartered healthcare consultant.
