Events Highlight Energy-Related Jobs for Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Applied Sustainability Center at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas will host four “Energy Jobs for Arkansas” events around the state to highlight the potential for the advanced energy sector to create jobs.

“Arkansas has economic resources in energy efficiency, renewable energy and alternative fuels that still have room for development, which can create needed jobs,” said Michele Halsell, managing director of the Applied Sustainability Center. “Developing these energy sources will also help to stabilize energy prices and attract new investors to our state.”

The first of these events will be in Springdale on Dec. 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 259 of the Jones Center at 922 E. Emma Ave. The next event will be held in Jonesboro on the Arkansas State University campus on Jan. 8. Two more events will be scheduled in other regions of the state for the first two weeks in January. The schedule for all events, which are free and open to the public, will be listed on the Applied Sustainability Center website.

“We want to make sure that the public is aware of the diverse energy resources in our state,” said Joanna Pollock of the Applied Sustainability Center. “Keeping the public informed allows Arkansans to make better choices that can have an outcome on our shared future both economically and ecologically.”

“Energy Jobs for Arkansas” is a follow-up outreach to the public in conjunction with workshops held by the Applied Sustainability Center for state legislators last summer.
