Debbie McLoud was chosen as Employee of the Quarter (Professional/Non-Faculty category) for the First Quarter of the 2012-13 fiscal year. McLoud has been employed at the university for over 20 years and during that time served as the acting associate vice chancellor for human resources for two and a half years.

Richard Ray and Becky Shoemaker Lingelbach submitted nominations on McLoud’s behalf and said, “she has served Human Resources and the University of Arkansas tirelessly and has been instrumental in getting the salary raised for our Institutional Assistance and took numerous trips to Little Rock to meet with OPM and others in order to establish a great working relationship with those people who control our classified salaries.” In addition, “Debbie has done an outstanding job providing stellar leadership to the Human Resources staff and excellent service to the university community.”

McLoud understands the importance of acting as an advocate on behalf of the entire university community at various levels including everything from petitioning the state on workers’ behalves to procuring printers for each office in the payroll department, which, Becky Lingelbach stated in her nomination letter, “greatly improved our processing time as opposed to using a centralized printer elsewhere in the office.”

McLoud has also been a staunch supporter of education for everyone in the Human Resources department by making sure that every employee was able to attend formal training or an educational conference. She also is responsible for remodeling the HR offices which not only added to the aesthetics of the department but also ensured that office spaces were created where university employees could speak with HR employees about sensitive matters in a secure and more ‘at-ease’ manner without fear of being overheard.

Richard Ray said, “I think Debbie’s diligence and hard work should be rewarded. She has sacrificed her time and energy to serving the university community. She has worked for the university for 20 years and has long been deserving of this kind of recognition.”

So congratulations to Debbie McLoud and thank you for all you do for the University of Arkansas!
