Arkansas Children’s Hospital Lecture Presented Jan. 24 in Little Rock

Kent Taylor and David Berry will present a lecture titled “Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the New South Wing” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Clinton School of Public Service, 1200 President Clinton Ave., in Little Rock. Taylor is a principal architect at Cromwell Architects and Engineers in Little Rock, and Berry is senior vice president and chief operating officer for Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

This lecture is part of the Architecture and Design Network’s 2012-2013 Art of Architecture lecture series. This is a rescheduled date for the lecture, originally planned for Jan. 15, which was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The speakers – architect and client – will discuss the design and construction of the South Wing, a $121 million, state-of-the-art addition to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the major provider of healthcare services for children in central Arkansas. The pair will also give a virtual tour of the recently completed 258,000-square-foot structure, which houses a new emergency department, expanded cardiovascular and neonatal intensive care units, a new unit for children with blood disorders and 54 beds for patients who require hospitalization.

The 2012-13 Art of Architecture lecture series is sponsored by the Architecture and Design Network, with support from the Central Arkansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Arkansas Arts Center and the Fay Jones School of Architecture.

The lecture is free and open to the public. To reserve seats, contact the Clinton School at publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or call 501-683-5239.
