HR Staff Members Earn Certification from National Organization

Barbara Abercrombie, associate vice chancellor for human resources, is proud to announce that compensation programs administrator Leah Williams, program coordinator for employment Kaleb Allee, RazorTemp program manager Rachel Busch, and director of employee services Debbie McLoud have each recently earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification awarded by the HR Certification Institute. The HR Certification Institute is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management, the world's largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession.

The certification signifies that these individuals possess the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of core HR knowledge and principles. The SPHR exam focuses on strategic management and driving change within the organization. The certifications must be maintained by meeting requirements to stay current in the HR field.

“Obtaining certification as a human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence and to the human resource profession,” said Abercrombie. “The fact that several of our current staff earned the SPHR certification supports our department’s commitment to creating an effective strategic plan to move Human Resources forward as a campus partner.”

Human Resources now has a total of six certified professionals on staff. Abercrombie is also SPHR certified, and Carol Jones, director of classification and compensation, is certified as a Professional in Human Resources, which demonstrates mastery of HR knowledge at the operational and technical level.
