Exchange and iOS 6.1 Known Issues

Microsoft and Apple report that some iOS 6.1 (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) users have experienced issues using Exchange calendar after responding to an exception to a recurring event. When this problem occurs, the user will notice a sudden decrease in battery life.

The recent iOS 6.1.1 update does not address this issue, but a new bug fix will be released in an upcoming update from Apple. In the meantime, users experiencing this problem can disable and re-enable the Exchange calendar on an iOS device by following these instructions:

  1. Tap Settings. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Select the Exchange account from your Accounts list.
  3. Switch Calendars to OFF.
  4. You will be warned that your calendar will be deleted. Tap Delete from My iPhone. Your calendar events will be cleared.
Note: Continue on to steps 5 and 6 to ensure that your Exchange calendar events will be restored to your device.
  5. Wait several seconds before switching Calendars to ON.
  6. Open the Calendar app and tap Calendars in the top left corner. Verify that your Exchange calendar is listed with a check mark. Tap the Exchange calendar if there is no check mark.
