For the second year the University Recreation Club Sports program will support LifeSource International with the Club Sports Clothing Drive. The event will run between March 4 and 31 and all donations can be dropped off at the UREC Main Office (HPER 225). Items being collected include new and gently used shirts, jackets, pants, shoes, accessories, and blankets.

Clubs will be competing against one another to see who can donate the most clothing based on weight and anyone can donate on a club’s behalf. The club who donates the most clothing will earn additional points that equate to additional allocation money for next year.

“It is important for clubs to participate in the Clothing Drive because it is one our chances to give back to the community,” said Shawn Hohendorf, president of the Men’s Soccer club and member of the Club Sports Advisory Council. “Northwest Arkansas gives so much to this University and the least we can do is gather clothes to help those in need.”

Last year the Club Sports program was able to collect 661 pounds of clothes and this year wants to donate at least 750 pounds.

The Clothing Drive is one of three programwide community service efforts. This academic year Club Sports donated 1,526 pounds of food to Full Circle Campus Food Pantry. The next event is the Club Sports Blood Drive benefiting the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks on March 12 and 13 in HPER Gym 4. More information about these community service opportunities can be found on the Club Sports website, clubsports.uark.edu, and our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ArkansasClubSports.
