2013-14 ASG Executive Officers and Senators Announced

Elections for the 2013-14 ASG executive officers and senators concluded on Thursday, March 14. A total of 5,253 students voted in the election. Next year’s ASG executive officers include:

James “Bo” Renner of Fayetteville was elected president of Associated Student Government. Renner is a junior majoring in marketing in the Sam M. Walton College of Business.

Ellie Keffler of Richardson, Texas, was elected vice president. Keffler is a junior majoring in history in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

Lindsey Bach of Tulsa, Okla., was elected secretary. Bach is a sophomore majoring in journalism and Spanish in Fulbright College.

Because no single candidate for treasurer received a majority of the votes (50 percent plus 1 vote), a run-off election will occur. Voting will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 28, and conclude at 4 p.m. Friday, March 29. Candidates in the run-off election include:

  • Will Strickland

Students can cast an electronic ballot via vote.uark.edu or a paper ballot in the Office of Student Activities, ARKU A665.

In addition, students approved three ASG constitutional referendum items including:

  • The ASG Impeachment Process Act of 2013, ASG Senate Bill 17
  • The Senate Committee Restructuring Act of 2013, ASG Senate Bill 18
  • Legitimizing Fresh HOGS, ASG Senate Bill 19

Having passed the student vote, the referendum items will be submitted to the chancellor for his review and consideration.
