Delays Sending Email to Non-UARK Accounts

In response to users reporting delays in sending email to some non-UARK accounts, IT Services technical personnel are working to resolve email delivery issues. Messages from uark.edu were blocked by hotmail.com, comcast.net, windstream.net, msn.com, verizon.net, suddenlink.net, live.com, and yahoo.com. These blocks were put in place because of spam sent by UARK accounts that were compromised by users falling for phishing scams.

Users can report slowness when sending email to other non-UARK accounts using http://askit.uark.edu and including expanded full email headers by following the instructions at https://techarticles.uark.edu/34.

When users fall for phishing scams, they not only compromise their UARK accounts, but can cause email delivery issues for others on campus. Learn to recognize and avoid phishing scams at https://techarticles.uark.edu/137.

For updates from IT Services about system outages, check twitter.com/uaits, facebook.com/uarkITS, or its.uark.edu/news. Planned outages are also posted at its.uark.edu/alert_calendar.
