College of Engineering Recognizes Outstanding Students, Faculty and Staff

The College of Engineering recognized several students and faculty and staff members at a collegewide meeting on Friday, May 3. Nine students received Outstanding Senior Awards from their departments: Nadia Bhatti from biological and agricultural engineering, Jimmy Vo from biomedical engineering, Megan Dunn from chemical engineering, Juan Rios from computer engineering, Jon Hammer from computer science, Sadie Smith from civil engineering, Alex Baldwin from electrical engineering, Bo Dillon from industrial engineering and Joshua Baer from mechanical engineering. Jimmy Vo was selected as the College of Engineering Outstanding Senior.

Samantha Puckett was recognized as a First Ranked Senior Scholar for having achieved a 4.0 grade point average for coursework completed on this campus. Alex Baldwin and Andrew Wheeler received Senior Scholar Awards, for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average that included transfer credits.

Joseph Castrodale received the George and Marion Branigan Senior Engineering Scholarship, which goes to the rising engineering senior with the highest grade point average, and Russell Bair was recognized for being selected as a Presidential Scholar by the university.

In addition, five students received the Porter Stone Coop Award, which is given to engineering students who have excelled in cooperative education: Bo Dillon, David Carman, Charles Lattin, Auston Spradling and Morgan Welch.

Stacy Sanchez, program coordinator for the department of biomedical engineering, received both the Employee of the Semester and the Employee of the Year awards.

Each engineering department also presented Outstanding Teacher, Outstanding Researcher and Outstanding Service to Students awards to members of its faculty. The following faculty received awards:
