FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Press has published Yonder Mountain: An Ozarks Anthology ($19.95, paper), edited by Anthony Priest. Poets, novelists, columnists, and historians are represented — Donald Harington, Sara Burge, Marcus Cafagna, Art Homer, Pattiann Rogers, Miller Williams, Roy Reed, Dan Woodrell, and more. The book is inspired by poet Miller Williams’s edited collection Ozark, Ozark: A Hillside Reader, which was published in 1985.

Yonder Mountain is rooted in the literary legacy of the Ozarks while reflecting the diversity and change of the region. Writer Jo McDougall says of the book, “Beloved, feared, stereotyped, mythologized, shamed, and revered: the Ozarks region is and has been all of these. Garnering work from folks who know the region best, Priest serves up a trove of fine writing and an unflinching look at a region that continues to both bewitch and confound.”

Anthony Priest is associate professor of English at Missouri State University–West Plains. He will be discussing Yonder Mountain at the following locations:

12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Books in Bloom Festival at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs

2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, Springdale.

4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, Civic Center Theater, downtown West Plains, Missouri

Each of these events is free and open to the public. Full details can be found at www.uapress.com.
