Paul A. Byers

FAYETTEVILE, Ark.-- The Graduate School and International Education lost a valued long-time colleague on Friday, June 21st with the death of Paul A. “Pavel” Byers.  He worked on the University of Arkansas campus for 29 years as a computer technician -- 14 of those years with the Graduate School and International Education.  His loyalty, tenacity, compassion and determination are well known among those who worked with him

Paul was one of the few people in the world to have survived multiple lightning strikes and was known for his love of cooking and passion for medieval re-creations. Anyone who attended the Collis R. Geren cook-out and awards ceremony will remember Paul as the chef.  He was a devoted husband to Natalia Karnes, a proud father of Alex Byers, and the loyal friend of many, many people.  His friends and colleagues miss him deeply.

His memorial service will be on Thursday, June 27th at 11 a.m. at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. On-line remembrances may be made at www.mooresfuneralchapel.com.
