HOT SPRINGS – Miss Diamond Lakes Amy Crain won the title of Miss Arkansas 2013 on Saturday at the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant. The pageant took place at Summit Arena in Hot Springs in front of a crowd of more than 2,500 people.

Crain won a $20,000 scholarship provided by Ted and Shannon Boy Skokos and more than $50,000 in awards, wardrobe, transportation and gifts. The 23-year-old University of Arkansas alumna will represent Arkansas at the 2014 Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City and will make appearances across the Natural State promoting the Children’s Miracle Network, the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, her personal platform of “Bullying – Prevention and Recovery” and speaking in support of the goals of the Miss Arkansas and Miss America system.

Crain was crowned by the outgoing Miss Arkansas, Sloane Roberts, a U of A student from Rison.

More than $79,500 in scholarships were awarded Saturday night to various contestants in decisions made by a panel of five judges.

Crain is a 2011 graduate with a degree in communications from the University of Arkansas. For her talent selection she performed a contemporary clogging routine to “Gametime.”  Her platform is “Bullying – Prevention and Recovery.”

She is the daughter of Jimmy and Sally Crain of Hot Springs and Terri Crain of El Dorado.

Other awards won by Crain include the Coleman Overall Talent Award and she was a Quality of Life Award finalist.

The first runner-up Miss Heart of the Ozarks Tracy Neal of Bryant is also a U of A student, She received an $8,000 scholarship, sponsored by Charles and Susie Morgan.

Miss Northwest Arkansas Riley Snell, a junior in early childhood education and music at the University of Arkansas was also one of the semi-finalists and received a $1,000 scholarship.

The pageant is co-sponsored by the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant Inc., The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Visit Hot Springs and the City of Hot Springs.
