Resolved: Application Slowness Due to SQL Server Issue

In late June and early July, users experienced slowness in SharePoint, emPower, and other applications due to SQL server performance issues. Working with Microsoft Premier support, IT Services finished implementing changes to the SQL server on July 8.

Since the final change was implemented, there have been no reports of application slowness and Microsoft has detected no significant wait times or I/O contention for over two weeks. IT Services database administration has continued to solicit feedback from users previously affected and no evidence of the issue reoccurring has been reported.

IT Services continues to monitor system performance, and technical staff has begun a Risk and Health Assessment Program to proactively assess the SQL server environment in collaboration with a Microsoft accredited engineer.

IT Services asks tech partners to report any SQL server-related issues at askit.uark.edu.
