University Police Mourns Passing of K9 Dox
The University of Arkansas Police Department lost one of its first two K9s last week. K9 Dox was a 5 year old German Shephard trained to detect explosives. He and K9 Orno began serving the U of A community in 2009. K9 Dox was friendly, playful, and loved to work. He partnered with Sergeant Jeff Shetlar. Dox was diagnosed with cancer in June, and his end of watch was on Sunday, July 21st, 2013.
“Our K9 unit proved to be very valuable to our operation,” said UAPD director Steve Gahagans.” We have every intention to keep this valuable unit as it adds to our protection planning for the University.”
