Utility Relocation to Affect Traffic on Williams, Duncan

A utility relocation project at the intersection of Duncan Avenue and Williams Street will affect traffic flow and pedestrian routes, although most work will be confined to a portion of Williams Street.

The work will be completed in four phases, the first three of which will affect street traffic flow and be completed by mid-October. The fourth off-street phase will finish in January. For more detail, download a PDF of the maps below.

Through Aug. 23

From Aug. 28 to Sept. 23

From Sept. 24 to Oct. 14

From Oct. 10 to Jan. 24

The intersection of Williams Street and Duncan Avenue will be closed until Aug. 23. Access from Dickson Street to the Harmon Avenue Parking Facility and parking lots south of the Physics Building will require using Harmon Avenue. Pedestrian traffic from Dickson Street down Duncan will be diverted around the construction area.

From Aug. 28 to Sept. 23, Duncan Avenue will reopen for automotive and pedestrian traffic. The lower part of Williams Street will be closed. Access from Dickson Street to the parking lots south of the Physics Building will continue to require use of Harmon Avenue. The north lower entrance to the Harmon Avenue Parking Facility will be closed, but all other entrances will be available.

From Sept. 24 to Oct. 14, relocation work will move west on Williams Street, and access will be available to all parking lots, although through traffic on Williams will still be blocked.

From Oct. 10 to Jan. 24, the relocation work will move to the east side of Duncan Avenue and affect the southern end of the parking lot next to the Nanoscale Material Science and Engineering Building. Williams Street and Duncan Avenue will reopen completely.
