Associated Student Government welcomes returning and new students to the hill for the 2013-14 academic year with two events during the first week of classes.

The annual ASG Welcome Back Cookout will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, on the Arkansas Union Mall features free hotdogs, Pepsi products and ASG items. Traditional, kosher and veggie dogs are available.

"The Welcome Week Cookout is a great way for students and ASG to kick off the new school year. The event welcomes returning students back to campus and introduces new students to the University of Arkansas. I especially encourage new students to stop by as the cookout is a nice way to minimize any first day jitters and see some friendly faces," said Ellie Keffler, ASG vice president.

The annual event, which is part of Hog W.I.L.D. Welcome Weeks, kicks off the school year and gives students the chance to learn more about ASG and ways to get involved.

"A lot has changed at the University of Arkansas, but the Associated Student Government's mission in its 92 year history has not: To serve the Arkansas student. This organization gives students the opportunity to do incredible things on our campus. I encourage everyone to utilize ASG to ensure one leaves the University of Arkansas better than it was upon their arrival," said Bo Renner, ASG president.

Also this week, ASG along with University Programs will sponsor the film, The Fast and the Furious: 6 at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at the Chi Omega Greek Theater. Pizza and Pepsi products will be provided.

More information on both programs can be found at asg.uark.edu
