FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Associated Student Government, in co-sponsorship with Pat Walker Health Center's Substance Education and Alcohol Resources (SEAR) office and the parking and transit department, will host a Safe Ride Open House today from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Safe Ride Headquarters on Graham Avenue.

The free event, which will include food and prizes, will give information to students about Safe Ride, as well as educate on responsible alcohol consumption.

The mission of the Safe Ride program is to provide students with a safe means of transportation from any uncomfortable or inconvenient situation. SEAR is dedicated to providing students, the university, and the community with drug and alcohol education and resources. SEAR encourages students to look at their behaviors and make decisions based upon risk reduction and personal responsibility for one's actions.

"The Safe Ride Open House will be a great opportunity for students to learn more about the Safe Ride Program.  Students can come get free food and hear about the many services that Safe Ride offers for University of Arkansas students as well as how to make responsible choices," said Autumn Lewis, ASG chief of staff.

Students interested in attending can take the Safe Ride shuttle from the Arkansas Union parking deck starting at 11 a.m. The shuttle will transport students from the deck to the Graham Avenue building and back. The shuttle will run every 15 minutes. Any questions should be referred to Sam Brehm, Safe Ride Committee Co-Chair at saferide@uark.edu.

The event is supported by the Associated Student Government through the office of student activities and funded by the student activities fee. For questions, please contact the Associated Student Government at 575-5255. For special accommodations due to disability, please contact the office of student activities at 575-5255.
