Center for Food Safety Article Ranks Seventh on Website's 'Top 25 Hottest'

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – An article published by University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture food scientists has been ranked by the ScienceDirect database website as No. 7 among its Top 25 Hottest Articles for 2012 that were published in the journal Progress in Energy and Combustion Science. The article by Steven C. Ricke, director of the Center for Food Safety, and Alya Limayem, then a doctoral student in food science, was published in the journal's August 2012 edition.

ScienceDirect determines its rankings according to the number of times they are downloaded from its site.

The article's title is "Lignocellulosic Biomass for Bioethanol Production: Current Perspectives, Potential Issues and Future Prospects." It summarizes current approaches on lignocellulosic-derived biofuel bioconversion and provides an overview on the major steps involved in cellulosic-based bioethanol processes and potential issues challenging these operations.
