This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Sept. 20-27

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – This week in the visual and performing arts features two guest artists the week of Friday, Sept. 20, through Friday, Sept. 27. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these events sponsored by the departments of art and music in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

Alexandra Bond will give a student voice recital at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in the Fine Arts Center's Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. She will be joined by Shannon Horner on cello.

Stephen Gates, professor of cello, and Tomoko Kashiwagi, instructor of piano and collaborative piano, will present a joint faculty recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Also on Sunday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, guest artist Matthew Haislip will give a French horn concert at 7:30 p.m.

Visiting artist Kate Blacklock will give a lecture at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in room 213 of the Fine Arts Center. Her presentation will follow a 5 p.m. reception for the artist outside the Fine Arts Center Gallery. Blacklock's work has been featured in the Fine Arts Center hallway exhibition cases since Sept. 9. The ceramic sculpture exhibit will close Friday, Sept. 27.

Resplendent, an exhibition in the Fine Arts Center Gallery, continues until Friday, Oct. 11. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
