Paid Research Study on Stress and Alcohol Use
The Intervention Sciences Laboratory is seeking both men and women age 21 and over who have experienced a stressful life event and who currently consume alcohol. The study involves two separate visits to the laboratory, each lasting approximately two hours. During the first appointment, two interviews with a researcher will be completed, as well as a variety of questionnaires. The first appointment compensates participants $10 for their time. If eligible for the second appointment, participants will be asked to complete a guided imagery task and listen to a presentation of health-related information. The second appointment compensates participants an additional $30.
The Intervention Sciences Laboratory is in the department of psychological science in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. The research study is funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and is designed to both improve our understanding of stressful life events and their impact on attitudes about alcohol use and to improve treatments for these conditions.
