Cyber Security: Our Shared Responsibility

The importance of cyber security continues to grow in today’s anytime/anywhere online environment. This October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month, and the National Cyber Security Alliance encourages everyone to be safe and secure online.

Phishing scams are an annoyance to email users, but they can also create real consequences for everyone at the university. For example, when a University of Arkansas email user responds to a phishing scam and provides account information, email sent from uark.edu gets blocked by other email service providers. Learn to recognize phishing messages and what to do with them at https://techarticles.uark.edu/security/phishing_scams.

Throughout October, IT Services will highlight the importance of cyber security at http://facebook.com/uarkits. Help spread the word by sharing your favorite posts. Like the page to get important announcements about outages for Blackboard, campus Internet or other systems, as well as relevant news about the direction of IT at the University of Arkansas.

Do your part to protect the critical infrastructure of the Internet. Learn more about "Our Shared Responsibility," the theme of this year's National Cyber Security Awareness Month, at http://www.staysafeonline.org/ncsam.
