UA Lemke Prize Winners

Katie Russell and Yekaterina Syrtsovam, both master's candidates in communication, received 2013 Lemke Prizes from the Washington County Historical Society for their forthcoming articles in Flashback.

Charles Alison, Flashback editor, and professor Hoyt Purvis, president of the Washington County Historical Society, presented the awards Sunday, Oct. 6, at the society's annual meeting.

Russell received first place for “Reverend James Warthen Workman: The Rhetoric of Methodist Social Justice,” and Syrtsova took second place with “J. William Fulbright and the Rhetorical Dimensions of His 1942 Congressional Campaign.”
